"The Difference is Love" SM

The Carmelite Seal is the universal sign of affiliation with the Ancient Order of Carmel. It signifies Mount Carmel, the three epics of the Order from Pre-Christian to Modern times, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, who is Patroness of the Order, and the Founder of the Order, the Prophet Elias. The Motto is contained in the banner cascaded around the crest:

"Zelo Zelatus Sum Pro Domino Deo Exercituum"
"With Zeal I have been zealous for the Lord God of Hosts"

The Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, as a Religious Community in the Catholic Church, was founded in 1929. Their ministry is to serve God and the Church by caring for the Aged and Infirm.

Carmelite Sisters have been pioneers and leaders in providing services in the long-term care setting. The Foundress of the Order, Mother Angeline Teresa, established many practices that today are mandated services in all Nursing Homes.

The Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm currently staff 25 other Nursing Homes. Each home strives to provide the highest quality services to its Residents, based on the ideals of Mother Angeline Teresa, who envisioned the apostolate of the Sisters as meeting the needs of the Aged and Infirm.

"To clasp the hand of an aged person and give meaning to the autumn of life."

St. Margaret Hall's Philosophy of Care is the Philosophy of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm. We seek to have our Sisters and Staff live the Philosophy in the operation of the Home so that it is evident in all aspects of our association with the Residents. It is expressed as our belief in....

  • Quality of Life
  • Shared Commitment
  • Holistic Caring
  • Social Justice
  • Hospitality
  • Redemptive Suffering
  • Roman Catholic Doctrine
  • Sanctity of Life
  • Christian Witness
  • Pastoral Ministry
