About Us
Every person has a story. Every person had a life before they came through our doors. At Carmel Manor, we honor that. Carmel Manor isn’t just about nursing care. We’re about personal connection. We’re about respecting what happens in the autumn of life. We’re about compassion. And we’re about finding joy in the process.
Deep Roots in the Community
The Diocese of Covington asked the Carmelite Sisters to purchase and administer the home in 1948, and the first residents came in 1949. We’ve had major additions built in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1980s, and we completed building a new rehabilitation unit, as well as a new memory wing in 2016. We’ve worked hard to stay current and to serve the changing needs of the Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati community.
We are still sponsored by the Carmelite Sisters, whose sole mission is to care for the aged and infirm. That mission informs everything we do: every policy we set, every staff person we hire, and every moment of every day. We offer two levels of care in our Ft. Thomas, Kentucky facility: personal care and skilled nursing care. In addition to meeting the physical, social, spiritual, and personal needs, our staff works to connect personally with each resident, and get to know their story.
On September 3, 1929, Mother Angeline Teresa and her 6 companions founded a new Congregation. The Archbishop of New York, Patrick Cardinal Hayes, recommended that the Sisters be affiliated to an already established religious order. By August of 1931, the Sisters were affiliated with the Carmelite Order.
Saint Patrick’s Home, the first permanent foundation of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, has been providing loving care to the elderly since 1931.
The Difference is Love
We know that entrusting the care of your loved one to someone else is not an easy thing. We see the looks of worry and uncertainty on family members’ faces. That’s why we work closely with families, answering all questions (no matter how small) and offering peace of mind that their loved one is getting the best care possible, in a warm and home-like setting.
Situated just outside of Tower Park, our peaceful, secluded setting is unmatched in Northern Kentucky. Overlooking the Ohio River, we have an exquisite panoramic view of Cincinnati.
Caring for older adults is all we do. It’s our mission, and it’s our joy. To take a visual tour of Carmel Manor (or to schedule an in-person tour), click here.
